Getting by Donny Dumpcake

An ancillary character in the Jimmy O’Hair comic strip, Donny Dumpcake, makes his debut today and he will recur from time to time. Donny is a nightclub bouncer who keeps a “tight rope” policy, meaning it’s difficult to get by him unless you’re “on the list” and he almost never cracks a smile. Does that sound like the bouncer that may control the door at the nightclub near you? Anyway, Donny also is known around town for his immense talent for baking, characterized by his award winning “dumpcakes.” Of course this is also a play on words, because he is effectively “dumpcaking” most guys who show up to the nightclub and want to get past him, as most are sent home or realize they’re never getting in due to the excessive wait. However, don’t count out seeing in the future some of Donny’s baking prowess behind the macho exterior, because he is “Donny Dumpcake” after all. As for Jimmy, he will go to great lengths to get by Donny’s tough door policy now and into the future.
