Memorial Day Salute

On this Memorial Day holiday in the United States, many of us gather for parties, picnics, beach outings, or whatever else may be happening on this “unofficial” launch of the summer season. However, it’s always appropriate to recall the true meaning behind Memorial Day, an observance to remember the brave heroes who sacrificed their lives to preserve the nation’s democracy and American ideals. There is not a comic strip posted today for Jimmy O’Hair, but rather a simple B&W tribute to all the men and women in U.S. history who have lost their lives fighting for the nation. Jimmy is saluting all of them, reflecting the significance by standing next to a tombstone and the U.S. flag. The regular Jimmy O’Hair comic strip will return to its current three day cycle on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, but for today, it is something different.
